Why Study Radiography?

Radiography is the art and science of using radiation to provide images of the tissue, organ, bones, and vessel that comprise the human body.

There are two types of digital imaging systems used in intraoral radiography – computed radiography (CR) and direct radiography (DR). CR uses a photostimulable phosphor (PSP) plate to capture the image.

O’LEVEL/A’LEVEL REQUIREMENTS TO STUDY RADIOGRAPHY

To study Radiography, you must acquire at least Five SSCE Credit Passes in:

  • English Language,
  • Maths,
  • Biology,
  • Physics
  • and Chemistry is required.

There are however, variation to these requirements in some Nigerian higher institutions. In the case of some schools highlighted for you below:

  • UNICAL accepts ’A’ level in any two of Chemistry, Biology and Physics plus O/Level requirements.
    b) accepts B.SC in Physical or Biological sciences plus O/Level requirements.
  • UNIZIK requires A’ level credit pass in Physics. Accepts London International Baccalaureate.
  • UNIMAID accepts DIR/DCR registered with radiographers Board of Nigeria plus O’ level requirements.
  • UNN – No direct entry.
  • UNILAG accepts very good passes in three JUPEB/A-LEVEL subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Biology.
