These Universities of Technology basically offers technological career focus on innovative problem solving research and discovery.

Below here are the best technology universities in Nigeria according to the recent 4icu rankings in 2018.

1. Federal University of Technology, Minna (FUTMINNA)

This Technology University is ranked number one (1) in the Country. According to the most recent university ranking of an international higher education search engine and directory (4icu), it is the best technology university in Nigeria.

The university is located in Minna, Niger State. It currently has Nine (9) schools:-

  • School of Life and Science
  • School of Physical Science
  • School of Environmental technology

2. Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA)

Established in 1981 by former President Shehu Shagari has risen to be one of the best technology university in Nigeria. Located in the heart of Akure, the University boast of Seven schools namely:-

  • School of Science
  • School of Earth and Mineral Sciences
  • School of Agricultural and Agricultural Technology
  • School of Management Technology
  • School of Environmental Technology

3. River State University of Science And Technology (RSUST)

RUST was established in 1980 making it the first University of technology in Nigeria. It first began asthe Rivers State College of Science and Technology which was founded in 1972.

The university has Seven faculties namely:-

  • Faculty of law
  • Faculty of management
  • Faculty of environmental sciences
  • Faculty of technical and science education
  • Faculty of engineering
  • Faculty of sciences
  • College of medicine

4. Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso (LAUTECH)

Popularly known as LAUTECH, was established in 1990 and named after the former premier of the Western region, Chief Ladoke Akintola. The University of Technology is jointly owned by the Oyo and Osun State Government.

It currently has two Campuses; the Osogbo Campus and the Ogbomoso Campus.

The university also has Seven faculties namely:-

  • Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences
  • Faculty of Clinical Sciences
  • Faculty of Engineering and Technology
  • Faculty of Pure and Applied Science

5. Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO)

The Technology University is one of the oldest in Nigeria, founded in 1980 by the Shehu Shagari led Government. The university is located South of Owerri, Imo State and has Six schools namely:-

  • Engineering and engineering technology
  • Environmental technology
  • Management technology
  • Health technology
  • Science

6. Modibo Adama University of Technology, Yola

It was first established as Federal University of Technology, Yola before it was later renamed Modibo Adama University of Technology, Yola. The university was founded in 1988 has been described as among the best technology universities in Nigeria.

It offers Bachelor’s degree program, Master’s degree and Postgradaute degree program in various fields of Science and Technology. The university has the following schools namely:-

7. Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT)

ESUT as it popularly called, was established in 1981 as one of the very first State Technology universities in Nigeria. ESUT however, began as ASUTECH in 1980 before it was later changed to it current name.

As at the time of compiling this list, ESUT offers bachelor degree in several areas of the study. The university has the following faculties namely:-

8. Bells University of Technology

This university is the first private technology university in Nigeria. It was established in 2005. It is located in Ota, Ogun State opposite the Covenant university Ota.

Aside from offering Pre-degree program, it currently offers Undergraduate and Postgraduate programmes to prospective students. The university has Four (4) faculties namely:-

  • Engineering
  • Environmental Sciences
  • Management Sciences
  • Natural and Applied Sciences

9. Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun

It was established in march 2007 to produce the necessary man power required to man the growing oil and gas industry in Nigeria. The university is located in Effurun, Delta State, Nigeria.

Ranked as the first petroleum training university in Africa and Sixth in the world. This university provides research, consultancy, training services. It currently has Six colleges:-

10. Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi (ATBU)
