This article will enlighten you on the Jamb subject combination for International Relations in UTME examinations. It will also highlight some O’level requirements for international relations in some Nigerian Universities.

As we all know, International relations is a prestigious course or degree programme to aspiring to study in any Nigerian university.

JAMB Subject Combination For International Relations

Many Nigerian higher institution, however, offer the course as History and International studies, while some offer it as French and International relations or only as International relations. Only the Ahmadu Bello university, Zaria offer it as International Studies.

International relations is a Four (4) year degree programme which equip students to learn and study the way and manner Nations and States interact or relate with each other on the international stage.

As an international relations graduate, you will have a broad set of career opportunities in addition to politics, including in fields like economics and social systems. You can find your career working for Foreign Embassies or as a professional diplomat for your Country or become lecturer in the field.

O’Level Requirements To Study International Relations

To study International relations, you must acquire at least Five (5) SSCE credit passes including English Language, History or Government and Mathematics and any other two (2) relevant subjects.

However, there are variation to these requirements in some Nigerian tertiary institutions. As In the case of some institutions highlighted below:

(i) Obafemi Awolowo University accept five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes which must include English Language, Mathematics, Government and two (2) other subjects from History/Economics/Literature in English/Geography.

(ii) WELLSPRING require a pass in Maths provided the candidate possess a total of five (5) O’level credit passes including English language, History/Government and Economics.

(iii) Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria accept Credit English, At least Pass in Mathematics (provided It’s D7 in Mathematics) and Two other subject to include Government, Economics/Geography or Literature in English.

JAMB Subject Combination For International Relations

To apply for International relations in JAMB, you need the following subjects:-

  • Mathematics
  • And any two (2) of the following: Economics, Government, Geography, History, Literature in English and French.
