This article will enlighten you on the Jamb subjects combination for Statistics in UTME examinations. It will also highlight some O’level requirements for Statistics in some Nigerian Universities.

The role Mathematicians and statisticians can not be overemphasized. They analyze data and apply mathematical and statistical methods and techniques to help solve real-world problems in business, healthcare, engineering or other fields.

Jamb subject combination for English

Statisticians work in many fields, such as research institutes, marketing, education, psychology, sports, or any other sector that requires the collection and analysis of data. In particular, government, healthcare, and research and development companies employ many statisticians.

O’Level Requirements To Study Statistics

To study Statistics, you must acquire at least Five O’level Credit to include Mathematics and at least three (3) subjects from Chemistry, Further Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Economics and Geography.

However, there are variation to these requirements in some Nigerian tertiary institutions. In the case of some institutions highlighted below:

(i) UNIZIK and AAU requires O’level pass in English Language.

(ii) BIU requires any Science subject in addition to Mathematics and Physics.

(iii) UNN accept five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics and any two (2) subjects from Statistics, Physics, Chemistry, Further Mathematics, Geography and Economics.

(iv) ABSU accpets five (5) O’level credit passes to include English Language as core subject, Mathematics and any three (3) of Physics, Economics, Biology, Chemistry, Geography and Additional Mathematics.

(v) IMSU accept O’ level credit pass in Physics and requires O’level pass in English Language.

(vi) UMUDIKE accept Mathematics to study statistics.

(vii) University of Ibadan does not accept Economics as a Science Subject.

(viii) University of Ibadan accepts five (5) or six (6) O’level credit passes to include Mathematics, English Language, and any other three (3) Science subjects at one(1) or two (2) sittings.

(ix) University of Portharcourt accept Chemistry, Physics and any one (1) of Geography, Biology or Economics.

JAMB Subjects Combination For Statistics

To apply for Statistics in JAMB, you need the following subjects:-

  • English Language (Compulsory For all courses)
  • Mathematics
  • Three subjects from Physics, Chemistry, Statistics, Further Mathematics, Economics and Geography

In addition to knowing your JAMB Subject Combination for Statistics, there are some TOP NIGERIAN INSTITUTIONS to study this course/programme.

Statistics can be studied under the Faculty of Sciences of the following top Nigerian Universities:-

  • Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria
  • Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma
  • Abia State University, Uturu

  • Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti  Ekiti State
  • Achievers University, Owo
  • Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin
  • Ajayi Crowther University, Ibadan (ACU)

  • Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Uli
