Getting an Indigene Certificate in Nigeria can be quite stressful, especially if you do not know how to do it. The simple thing you only had to do is ask a friend or google it on the internet.

It is often said that “Google is your friend”. So, always google whatever that seems unclear to you on any google search engine application.

Now, for those of us who do not know what an indigene certificate is all about, well, simply read through the explanation provided below…

? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?What Is Indegene Certificate?

An indigene certificate is same as local government certificate of origin. Which ever way you want to see it, they all mean the same thing.

The certificates serve as a documentary proof that you are an indigene of the local government area you are claiming. So, basically what this means is that a Nigerian who does not have a certificate of indigeneity from a local government somewhere in Nigeria is effectively an indigene of nowhere.

Therefore, it is a must for everyone in Nigeria to have an indigene certificate. Beside, you might need it to process some very important things in the future such as school admission, jobs etc.

  • Fill the indigene/local government state of origin certificate form.
  • Pay the certificate charges to the local government account which will be provided by your local government council.
  • Photocopy your payment teller.
  • Submit the payment photocopy slip and wait for them to finish printing and signing your document.
  • It will be ready in few hours.

      Hi Verity,
If you have been claiming EDO state as your SSCE and JAMB never had a certificate of Origin before
for the sake of your future, claim your Dad’s State of Origin as yours.

If you already used EDO state in your SSCE and JAMB Registration, continue with EDO. But if you never did so before, use Cross River.
