The University of Toronto, also commonly known U of T is a public tertiary institution located in Toronto, Ontario Canada. It was established by a royal charter in 1827 as King’s College, becoming the first higher institution of learning in the colony of Upper Canada.

The University since its establishment in 1827 has developed into Canada’s top institutions of learning. Its proudly boast and is indeed among the world’s top research-intensive universities, constantly driven to invent and innovate.

It is also a global leader in research and teaching and has a significant legacy, both in Canada and across the world.

With some of the most celebrated architectural buildings and beautiful green space in the Greater Toronto Area and Mississauga, UToronto presents a wonderful environment in which both domestic and international students can learn and work.

Currently, the University of Toronto offers some academic programs in professional, Arts and Science, Medicine, Law and careers which lead to diplomas, degrees, certificates at the undergraduate and postgraduate level.

University Of Toronto Ranking

The UToronto is ranked among the top higher educational institutions in Canada. The prestigious Times Higher Education ranking of the world’s universities, placed the university firmly among the world’s top 20 institutions.

U of T is also ranked 18th globally in the 2024 World University Rankings up from 21st place last year, further cementing its position as Canada’s best university. Among public institutions, U of T’s performance is very impressive, ranking eighth in the world and third in North America.

University Of Toronto Tuition Fees

Domestic student– Undergraduate tuition and fees: 6,590 CAD

International students:

  • Computer Science: first year – $49,800, upper-year – $51,500
  • Management: first year – $49,800, upper-year – $56,610
  • All other programmes: first year – $49,800, upper-year – $49,800

Note that in addition to the University of Toronto tuition fees, there are expenses such as:

  • Extra Academic Fees: Co-op Programs: $922 – $1,824, and Joint Programs: $40 – $190
  • Incidental/Ancillary Fees: $1,823.92
  • Residence Housing: $5,736 – $9,672
  • Books & School Supplies: $1,500
  • University Health Insurance (UHIP): $624

University Of Toronto Scholarships

UToronto has a number of scholarships that can be very helpful for international students. There are over 4,400 undergraduate admission scholarships that the higher institution, along with its faculties, colleges, campuses and, awards each year.

Qualified high school students (including international students) are automatically considered for a number of admission scholarships when they apply to the UToronto. Awards and cut-offs vary by faculty, division, and college.

There are also other scholarships that require a separate application or awarded on the bases of financial needs and community services.

University Of Toronto Admission Requirements For International Students

The University of Toronto considers applicants based on their academic background, regardless of age. You have to meet the admission requirements as published on the university website.

In addition to meeting general university admission requirements, you may need to present specific subject prerequisites or submit a personal profile or statement of interest.
