Now, what follows? Well, we have decided to share some few important tips that will help make your academic journey a success.

Here, we have got 20 tips that will strategically position you mentally in your undergraduate programmes.

1. Try to settle down with your new course of study. For those lucky ones who got their most preferred course “Felicitations”. And if you didn’t get your desired course, have an open mind about the course you got. You don’t know where that course of study will take you in life.

2. The tertiary education and secondary school systems are a thousand miles apart. If you didn’t do well in your secondary school days, see this as an opportunity to prove yourself.

Many students just tend to underestimate their ability to excel. Academic performance is a function of studying. Make sure not to ignore the foundations, and you can set yourself right again.

3. Identify your weakness early and start to work on yourself as quick as you can.

4. Don’t be a loner or too independent. Try to make friends. but be wary of bad friends who will never make you better.

5. Do the necessary registrations on time. Do not procrastinate registrations or wait until deadlines. This will save you a whole lot of troubles down the line.

6. Set a target for yourself. If you desire a First Class Honour, then take your studies seriously from day one.

7. Draw up a reading schedule for yourself and take it seriously. Don’t depend too much on night reading. sleep well and read a little every day. Remember the adage, slow is smooth and smooth is fast.

9. Every higher institution has a code of conduct. Please, we beg you! abide by these rules as you do not want to be expelled from school.

10. Get advice, tips, and insight from senior colleagues from your department or faculty.

11. Put the School library to use. Some university’ libraries are usually quiet enough for study, and they are packed with books that you may not be able to afford on your own.

12. If you are the type that’s easily swept off by the opposite sex, begin to adjust yourself from now on. Otherwise, you may get what you never planned for.

13. Maintain a close relationship with at least one or two friendly lecturers. This will make you accountable to someone and more serious with your studies. But don’t get slutty with them.

14. Life is not all about studies alone. try to get to know some other things aside what you are studying.

15. The university is a place where some ordinary people start their journey to stardom. Try to be nice and polite to people, because you can never tell who he or she might become tomorrow.

16. Higher institutions are places where you literary have all the freedom to do whatever you like. But please ensure you discipline yourself.

17. This is very important! Always attend lectures as often as possible. Majority of lecturers often at times give out secrets for doing well in their courses.

18. Always make sure you take notes during lectures hours and read them, but don’t allow note-taking take away your attention during lectures.

19. Use the recommended textbooks and materials to aid your study. Also, learn to maximize the resources available on the Internet.

20. Avoid lonely places at night and be security conscious whether on campus or off campus.
