Dalhousie University is a public higher institution located in the Nova Scotia city of Canada. The school was founded in 1818 but started its first class in the year 1838.

Dalhousie offers more than 180-degree programs, and 4,000 courses, across twelve graduate, undergraduate and professional departments.

The higher institution is a member of the U15, a set of research-based universities in Canada. In 1879, the higher institution needed to be closed down as a result of a financial issue before they were bailed out by George Munro who was an in-law to John Forrest a member of the governing board of directors.

As at the point of compiling this article, Dalhousie University has three campuses in the Halifax Peninsula and a fourth one, the Agricultural Campus, in the city of Bible Hill of Nova Scotia.

The admission requirements differ between Canadian students and foreign students as a result of the lack of uniformity in grading.

The requirements for admission also differ depending on the program. In 2011, the high school average for fresh first-year undergraduate students was 85 per cent.

Both local and international students can apply for financial aid and support such as the Nova Scotia Student Assistance Program and Canada Student Loans and Grants through the provincial and federal governments.

Financial support may also be provided in the form of scholarships, bursaries, loans, fellowships, grants, interest relief, debt reduction and work programs.

Nova Scotia is the town where Dalhousie University is situated. It currently has a population of about 923,598 residents. When the first British colonists arrived, the Mi’kmaq people occupied the city and lived there for thousands of years.

In 1604, the French arrived in the city and lived with the Acadians for Eighty (80) years then began the war between the British colonist and the French where the British defeated and made peace with the Mi’kmaq inhabitants.

Nova Scotia’s economy flourished after the civil war and became a world leader in both building and construction of wooden sailing ships.

The school library largely serves the faculties of management, arts and social sciences, sciences, and computer science.

The university also has Museums, Art Gallery and studios that is host to some collections of over 1000 artworks.
