Posted on August 4, 2026 By CampusTimesNG 4 Comments on Cheap Canadian Universities Where Nigerians Now Study

If you can’t afford to study in places like the USA, Australia, and the UK where the tuition fees are high, you can study in cheap Canadian universities.

It might interest you to learn that some Canadian universities charge very low tuition fees for Nigerian students. These fees are in the range of $5,000 to $10,000 per year for Undergraduate, Master and Doctorate degree programs.

Today, I will like to provide an updated list of these Cheap Canadian Universities with their present tuition fees and contact information.

But before I do that, I will want us to check out if Universities are free in Canada and the cost of living in Canada as a student and one of the ways to immigrate to Canada.

Are Universities Free In Canada?

Are there ‘Free of Charge’ Canadian universities for international students? Because there are no free of charge Institutions of higher education for foreigners in Canada, it is possible you find a place with lower cost compared to other universities.

The tuition isn’t free, of course, but they can be affordable. Are You Planning to Study in Canada? See these Important Benefits of Studying In Canada

Cost of living in Canada

Cost of living refers to the amount of money one needs to take care of expenses like feeding, accommodation, transportation, etc in a period of time. In Canada, a student needs about $600 to $800 a month for living expenses. This amount takes care of expenses like feeding, buying books, transportation, etc.

Please see below a breakdown of the cost of living in Canada for students:

  • Accommodation (bedroom apartment): $400 approximately per month.
  • Average restaurant meal: $10 to $25 per person
  • Movies: $8.50 to $13
  • Books and supplies: $1000 per year
  • Groceries: $150 to $200 per month

You can now see from this breakdown that a student needs about $600 to $800 per month to live in Canada. Please note that these are estimated figures. However, a student can live on less or more depending on the spending habit.
