This article is for those individuals who are confused about choosing the right immigration or visa program to come to Canada. Some of the easiest ways to migrate to Canada and get permanent residency is through Express Entry Or Student Visa. But which one is best for you?
Canada is popular for its history of immigration. Matter of factly, many Canadian citizens today were at one time newcomers from other countries. No wonder it has always been more friendly towards immigrants from other parts of the world without any bias or discrimination.
Nevertheless, many individuals who desire to move often get confused about choosing the best visa program to come to Canada.
The question that confuses most prospective migrants is whether to choose a student visa or Express Entry for Canada immigration.
Immigration Through Express Entry
This is the most popular route to Canada immigration. Each year, a large number of people file in for federal express entry and afterwards, obtain permanent residence in Canada.
Its one of those immigration programs of Canada, that does not necessarily need Sponsorship from Canada for visa applicants.
Express entry is the federal government immigration program of Canada. It’s an online platform based on a point-based system or Comprehensive Ranking System.
The CRS reviews the registered express entry applicants based on their age, work experience, language skills, education, adaptability etc. And accordingly, assign to them a particular point score called CRS score.
Applicants with top CRS score get the Invitation to Apply (ITA) for Permanent Residency (PR) of Canada from Immigration Refugee and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) in its fortnightly draws.
This year IRCC has reduced or dropped the eligible marks or CRS score requirement for applicants in all the periodical draws of express entry system.
This year alone, about 40,000 applicants have to get ITAs (Invitations to Apply) for Canada PR till May. Therefore, we can say that the year 2019 is the best time to apply for Canada PR through federal express entry system.
Immigration Through Student Visa
To move to Canada through the student visa, you must apply and be accepted by a particular Canadian educational higher institution to pursue a definite program or course of study.
With the recent immigration rule changes by the government of Canada, you can also get CRS points for your Canadian educational credentials, to apply for permanent residence via federal express entry platform.
But, once you come to Canada on the student visa, you must be financially sufficient or capable to support your stay as well as pay your tuition fee.
Furthermore, since you may not be having a professional job opportunity ready right away, managing expenses can be quite difficult as a newcomer in Canada.
So, if you are eligible to apply for Canada PR through express entry platform, and have good CRS score as well in an express entry system, the right thing is to file in for PR and not the student visa in Canada.
Canada Express Entry Eligibility
The Canada Express Entry eligibility is determined by using a special point-based system known as the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). This tool is created to select potential migrants that are likely to add benefit to the country and add to the growth and development of the Canadian economy.
To do so effectively, the Express Entry CRS system allows certain points for factors such as age, language proficiency, educational qualifications, with prior work experience in Canada.
Any candidate who meets the Federal skilled worker’s program, Federal Skilled Trades Program, or Canadian Experience Class requirements, is eligible to create an Express Entry profile. Those applicants with good Express Entry points may be invited to apply for permanent residency.
To help discover your Canada Express Entry eligibility score, we have provided a comprehensive CRS tool below.
Comprehensive Ranking System Tool
The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS), as earlier explained above is a points-based system used for evaluation or assessing and scoring applicant’s profile and ranking them in the Express Entry pool.
The total points to be gained from the CRS include a core set of points up to 600 and a set of additional points of up to 600. Your sum total score points will be out of 1,200.
