OAU Pre-degree programme was created to be an intensive coaching curriculum that is aimed at preparing senior high school graduates, that is, senior secondary for university education.

Given the high frequency of deficiencies students carried over from secondary schools, the OAU Pre-degree programme is a Centre for Distance Learning tailored to help students deal with the setbacks that often come with such circumstances by giving them a good head-start in order to facilitate superior academic performance in the university.

What is the Relevance of UTME to the OAU Pre-degree Programme?

Since JAMB UTME is a requirement for admission into Nigerian Universities as supported by the Federal Government, It is mandatory that every student on the OAU Pre-degree program register.

Hardly can prospective candidates gain admission into tertiary institutions without passing through JAMB. The only difference is that, you have a better opportunity of admission with Pre-Degree if you score up to 60% and above and at least 200 in UTME.

When is OAU Pre Degree 2025/2026 Form, Closing, Exam Dates?

Which Bank Can I Obtain the Form?

All candidates should know that all payment is through Interswitch WebPay for now. The participating banks include First Bank, Skye Bank, and UBA. At the bank, you should request you want to pay for OAU pre-degree registration, through the eTranzact network. Please be sure you mention “eTranzact”.

How can I choose my Course of Study?

Candidates who excel in the entrance examination and are offered admission will only be given access to the filling of the preferred course of choice. This means that this process is not required now until the registration period into the OAU Pre-degree programme for the admitted candidates.

Can I Register with Awaiting Result?

Provided that your required result will be ready before the admission screening process into the OAU pre-degree programme, you may apply with your awaiting results. Apply Here!

You will be required to indicate if you have completed your five O’level results: What you need to do is simply select NO if you are still awaiting your results, and change it back to YES after your result is released.

What is OAU Pre-Degree Programme 2025/2026 Cut-Off Marks?

The management of the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) Centre for Distance Learning (CDL) has released the cut-off marks. The Cut-off Marks for 2025/2026 O.A.U Pre-Degree Admission include:

• BCP – 40%,
• CMP – 40%,
• EGL – 40%,
• EGM – 40%,
• GLR – 40%,
• GMP – 40%,
• MGE – 40%

What Subjects will I take During the Entrance Examination?

You will be tested based on your subject combination. If your subject combination is Mathematics/Geography/Economics (MGE), you will be examined in all three subjects.

The English language is compulsory for all candidates. So, your examination will cover four subjects: the English language and any subject combination you have chosen.

What is the Tuition Fee?

The new fee for the OAU pre-degree session is ₦197,500.00 (Male Students) and ₦232,500.00 (Female Students). Candidates who enrolled in the current session respectively paid the sum of N187,500 and N222,500 by male and female students which included accommodation. Information concerning the fees for another session will be made available online too.

When is the Examination going to take place?

While the application for the OAU Pre-degree is still going on, the date of the examination is yet to be fixed. Information about this will be made available online soon. You are also required to keep checking your account as all other information concerning the examination will be sent there.

Difference Between Pre-degree (Remedial) and IJMB (Interim joint matriculation board)

If you’re wondering, pre-degree and remedial are the same program at the University of Ibadan; it all depends on which of the two names the school chooses to associate or identify the program with.

PRE-DEGREE (REMEDIAL)

1. Program lasting between eight to twelve months
2. it provides admission to 100L (year one)
3. JAMB score is required prior to admission.
4. Before applying for the program, your O’ level results must be complete.
5. Only one institution (the one running the program) has to offer you admission.
6. Not all courses are accepted for Pre-degree (e.g Medicine)
7. The Pre-degree result is valid for ONLY one year.
8. Most Nigerian universities charge around N150,000 to run.
9. Because lectures are primarily a review of O’ level topics, they contribute little to students’ readiness for university education.

IJMB (interim joint matriculation board)

1. It offers a nine-month program.
2. Provides admission to 200L (year 2)
3. There is no need for a UTME before final admission because admission is by direct entry (DE)
4. Accepts an incomplete O’ level and awaiting result.
5. Recognized by 75% of Nigerian universities
6. Accepted into all courses, including medicine, law, and engineering
7. The result is valid for fifteen (15) years.
8. Programme cost about N110,000 to run
9. Because the lectures are A level, it prepares students for university education.

Is the UI pre-degree form still available?
The University of Ibadan does not sell pre-degree programs through any website, admission officer, or agent.

Can I gain admission from pre-degree to 200 level?
Pre-degree courses will not result in an admission offer to 200. You’re only prepared for the 100 level at this point. If you must avoid 100 entirely, A’level and diploma programmes at various universities are your best bet.

How long does the pre-degree program last?
A Pre-degree programme is a one-year course offered by a university to prepare students for entry into the 100 level of any of her courses. The course is divided into two semesters and typically lasts 6 to 9 months of academic work.

Is JAMB required for a pre-degree program?
