The services of an experienced part-time registered nurse (RN) is urgently needed in the Greater Toronto Area of Ontario. Region of peel wants a hardworking and committed nurse to join a team of experienced medical personnel in the organization. The Registered nurse will be reporting to the Director of Care (or designate).
Successful candidates will provide nursing/medical care in compliance with the College of Nurses Standards of Practice, procedures, administrative policies, and other applicable legislation. Registered Nurse Benefits
Our employees are entitled to a comprehensive salary package, including compensations as per?the Collective Agreement (ONA). There is no guarantee of work hours as our employees are expected to work in various shifts,?evenings, nights and weekends, but our staffs are entitled to leave benefits.
Job Duties And Requirements
- Apply the Nursing method or standard procedures in the provision of individualized care to residents.
- Responsible for the updating and completion as required, of the Resident Plan of Care with supervision from the multidisciplinary team as required.
- Relate pertinent resident information to members of the nursing team and details nursing care provided for each resident
- Nurses are responsible for the safekeeping of drug and narcotic keys
- Refer with the physician on issues concerning residents? health and executes physician?s orders with follow-up documentation, as required
- Function actively as a team member and leader in co-coordinating and supervising nursing assignment according to priorities stated on his/her shift
- Communicate effectively and liaises with families, residents, visitors, Director of Healthcare and other members of the team
- Responsible for ensuring quick response to nurse call and alarm systems
- Maintain a safe and conducive working environment by complying to proper procedures and prompt reporting of unsafe conditions
- Complete staff incident reports form and forwards to Director of Cafe and/or designate
- Provide health teaching to family and residents and acts as an advocate
- Maintain cordial relationships with the residents, volunteers, staff, and visitors
- Control and monitor the usage of medical and personal care supplies
Qualifications:
- He/She must be certified as a?Registered Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Certificate in Gerontology is an added advantage
- Knowledge of geriatric or long-term care, medical/surgical, rehabilitation, and psychiatric nursing is preferred
- Excellent leadership, interpersonal and teamwork abilities
- Must have communication skills in the English language (oral and written)
- Must be able to communicate effectively with staff, residents, visitors, professionals, and volunteers
- Must be able to work without supervision and within a team structure
- Knowledge of basic computer skills is a requirement
- Must be physically able to carry out all delegated tasks
