Nine (9) things to expect in camp for all NYSC PCMs is an article to prepare your mind for every possible events that is bound to happen in NYSC orientation camp.
At this point, if you are a NYSC Prospective corp member, we want to believe that you have done your NYSC online registration for your batch and you are expecting your deployment and printing of call-up letter.
In the meantime, as you wait for your deployment, here below are Nine (9) things to expect in camp.

1. Thorough Scrutinizing/Search
As soon as you enter the gate of your various orientation camps, you will be search by uniform men. Your luggages would be searched thoroughly as they do not want any weapons or prohibitted items like pressing irons, knives, bombs, etc within the camp.
2. Manual Registration
This part can very stressful as you may have to stand on a long queue, if you arrive camp late. The first registration is normally for hostel/bedspace. You would be given tags to identify with.
Do not misplace your tags as they would be collected at the place where you will be collect your mattress. Other registration at the NYSC orientation camp will follow. Provide all necessary documents asked of you and strictly follow every instructions.
3. NYSC Kits
During the registration phase, you will be given all your NYSC kits. To avoid stealing and for proper identification, use a permanent marker to write your code number (CN) on them. This code Number is your temporary ID card that you will use during your stay in camp.
4. Casual Wears Are Disallowed
When you get your kits, only your white T-shirt, white shorts, white socks and white tennis shoe will be allowed for the 21 days in the orientation camp.
Although, there may be times where you might puts on your NYSC kit i.e the uniform itself.
5. Regimented Parades
Each morning, a trumpet wakes you at 4 am. Everyone would be expected to assemble at the parade ground by 4:30 am. If you are the type that wakes up late, you may have to adjust as you would have to wake up as early as 3.30am, to get prepared.
At 7.am, you have your breakfast. You can choose not to eat the food given free at the camp or go to the mammy market and eat a more balanced diet.
After breakfast, you will be called out again for the series of fitness and skill acquisition entrepreneurship programmes (SAED).
After the programme, you take your lunch. You will be given some time to rest before another evening parade and then, your dinner. This will continue everyday until you leave the orientation camp.
6. Fellowship for Christains & Muslims
There are fellowships for both christiana and muslims. The three (3) recognised associations are NCCF (Nigerian Christian Corpers Fellowship), NACC (Anglican) and MCAN (Muslim Corpers Association Of Nigeria).
But there are others like Redeemed (RCCG), Winners, Catholic, Christ Embassy and deeper life. So you can make choice.
7. Stipends/Allowances
Unless it has been increased, your first allowance will be N19,800 which will be given to you in cash at the NYSC camp. You will also get bicycle allowances/stipends (N2,500).
The N19,800 will continue through your service year. Some might collect state allowance, That’s if you are lucky.
8. Posting To Place Of Primary Assignment (PPA)
Your PPA is where you will be posted to do your work. Most corpers will be posted to primary schools and secondary schools, few will be posted to the state capital and other places.
Do not not lobby or bribe anyone for your posting, especially the ladies. Just pray to God for a good PPA. recieve your PPA in good faith. After all, youth obey the clarion call under the sun or in the rain.
9. NYSC Clearance
NYSC clearance should be taken seriously by all youth corps members. You would have to do this before you go home. It is very important because it registers you as a NYSC youth corper in the local governemnt you were posted.
Failure to complete your clearance before going home would see your subsequent monthly allowance not being recieved.

Because the camp is new and so are the facilities, the Ogun State orientation camp is arguably the best NYSC orientation camp in Nigeria. The camp’s equipment is fully operational and functional.
What is the best group to join in NYSC camp?
The Red Cross is considered the best group to join on camp because of the importance of its mission and the fact that you get breaks from parades while you’re on duty. You also get special treatment from NYSC officials and security operatives.
What is the highest age for NYSC?
Is there any age limit for NYSC participation? Absolutely yes! Graduates who are older than 30 years of age at the time of graduation will not be eligible to join the National Youth Service Corps and a certificate of exemption will be issued to them and it is equivalent to a discharge certificate.
Can I reduce my age after NYSC?

Can I get a job without NYSC?

Any member who leaves his duty station or absents himself from any official activity without the permission of the State Coordinator shall be tried by the Corps Disciplinary Committee and, if found guilty, be liable to extension of service with half pay double the period of absence.
