Your CV is the way to getting your dream Job, it is the first thing that your employer will see. So it’s nice to get it well written, but you will have to follow these simple rules below.

  1. ?Always keep it brief. Your CV should not be over one or two pages long. Human resource managers don’t always have the time to read long essays.
  2. Use white paper, A4 format with good printing quality.
  3. Make use of an easy to read font. If you need a printed copy, then use Times New Roman.
  4. A printed copy of your CV is better. Do not put it in hand-writing, unless asked to do so.
  5. Your CV should be professional. You can use the bold format to make everything clearer and put emphasis on titles.
  6. Leave spaces between sections and write only one side of the paper.
  7. Avoid spelling mistakes. Use synonyms to avoid repetitions. And its recommended not to use abbreviations.
  8. Carry out a research about the industry or company and it’s employers to show that you know what you are talking about.
  9. Use positive language and industry related words. Use them only if you are sure that they are applied in the right place.
  10. Show the best of yourself in a brief and positive way. Show your abilities, skills and achievements.
  11. You do not need to include higher diplomas, unless asked to do so.
  12. Always send original papers and never photocopies. If you attach a photo of yourself, it should be recent and ID size. It’s better coloured than black and white.

To summarize, your CV should include the following:-

  • Your Personal Details: Name, Age, Address, Phone, E-mail. They must be clear and visible at first sight.
