The emergence of Internet Banking is one of them to ever happen to the financial services in the world, The Internet remains one of the mind-blowing technological disruptions in the history of man’s existence

I remember there have been times when people would have to queue in the banking hall for hours just to check account balance or send money to loved ones, but now, you can hardly hear of such inquiries in the banks, people have upgraded due to the provision of internet banking.

Internet banking? is otherwise known as online banking, first introduced in October 1994 in the United States

What is Internet Banking

Internet banking can be defined as a facility provided by banking and financial institutions, that enables the user to execute bank related transactions through the Internet. The biggest advantage of Internet banking is that people can expend the services sitting at home, to transact business.

the account holder does not have to personally visit the bank, When small transactions like balance inquiry, the record of a recent transaction, etc. are to be processed, the Internet banking facility proves to be very handy

  • You can apply for Loans through the internet banking platformYou can own an account with almost any bank through the internet quite easily.
  • You can get up to date information about the happenings in your bank without having to visit the bankPaying for bills such as DSTV, PHCN, etc. and Airtime top-up is so much easier with internet banking
  • You can send and receive money via the internet
  • ?verify and print out your statements of account

    How Can I Start Using Internet Banking?

  • Have a bank account
  • Download the bank’s internet or online banking App
  • You can go to their website and enable online access to your accounts, you can visit your bank for a better set up on internet banking
  • You will be required to fill out some information online, just follow the instructions on the bank?s
    website.

Caution while using your internet banking platform:?

  • Avoid using your App on public WiFi
  • Always monitor your account for any sign of Fraud or theft
  • Stay aware of your surroundings when using your internet App
  • Ensure your internet?browser is up to date, this is to avoid malicious hacking into your platform. Try to Log in to
  • Your account only from personalized devices and not from public devices to prevent hacking into your platform
  • Always ensure that your Login ID and password is kept safe to avoid all unauthorized access to your
    account
  • Avoid using the same password as your ATM card password or other account passwords.
  • Choose a secure username and password

Follow the instructions you see on the bank?s website, and for extra safety, ensure that your password
contains a jumble of numbers, lowercase and uppercase letters.

  • Set up your contact information.
  • Your Email address must be authentic, secure and used only by you.

For information from your bank, ensure to check your email regularly, so that you may have up to date information for all transactions on your account.
