The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) officially released the results for the 2026 First Series Computer-Based WASSCE (CB-WASSCE) for private candidates on Friday, March 27, 2026.

Key Statistics and Performance
Total Candidates: 10,480 candidates sat for the examination across 166 centres nationwide between January 28 and February 14, 2026.

Overall Pass Rate: 3,429 candidates (32.72%) obtained credits in at least five subjects, including English Language and Mathematics.

Performance Trend: This represents a marginal 5.76% improvement compared to the 26.96% pass rate in the 2025 first series.

Processing Status: 8,418 results (80.32%) have been fully processed, while 2,062 are still being finalized due to candidate-related errors.

Withheld Results: 75 candidates (0.72%) had their results withheld due to alleged examination malpractice.

Result Statistics reveal that out of a total of 1,969,313 applicants who took the exam across 23,554 schools, only 754,545—or 38.32 percent—received a minimum of five credits, including English Language and Maths. This represents a huge 33.8% decrease from the 72.12% observed in 2024 where 71.13% of candidates ably secured a pass in English Language and Mathematics.

How to Check Your Results on Google?
Candidates can access their results and digital certificates through the following official platforms:
  • Result Portal: Check scores at the WAEC Direct Portal.
  • Digital Certificates: Access digital copies at WAEC.org.
  • Hard Copy Requests: Apply for physical certificates via the WAEC Certificate Request Portal.

Steps to Check your result;

  1. visit WAEC result checking portal via www.waecdirect.org
  2. Enter your 10-digit WAEC Examination Number.
    (This is your 7-Digit centre number followed by your 3-digit candidate number eg. 4123456789)
  3. Enter the 4 digits of your Examination Year eg. 2026
  4. Select the Type of Examination
  5. Enter the Card Serial Number found on the reverse side of your Scratch card.
  6. Enter the Personal Identification Number (PIN) on your Scratch card
  7. Click Submit and wait for the results window to come up.
How to Use SMS to Check WAEC Results

Candidates who want to check their results via SMS can do so by following these simple steps:

  1. Type WAEC*ExamNo*PIN*ExamYear into your mobile device.
  2. Send to 32327
  3. You will immediately receive a message containing your WAEC statement of result.

NOTICE: Please keep in mind that this SMS method is only available to MTN, Glo, and Airtel subscribers.

Also, if you did not receive your WAEC results via SMS, please repeat this step. When you check your WASSCE results via text message, SMS charges will be applied.

To check your results via text message, you must have purchased the WAEC Direct Scratch card. The scratch card pin is required in the PIN section of the SMS you will send to 32327.

SMS Method (MTN, Glo, Airtel only)
  • Open your SMS app.
  • Type: WAEC*ExamNumber*PIN*2025 (no spaces).
  • Example: WAEC*4250101234*123456789012*2025
  • Send it to 32327.

You’ll receive your result in a reply message. (Cost: ₦30 per message)

How to Use a Serial Number to Check the 2026 WAEC Results

The WAEC Serial Number is located on the back of the candidate’s Exam card. The candidate can purchase the scratch card from the nearest WAEC Office or accredited dealer in his or her area, and then use the card to check his or her WAEC result 2026.

Here is a guide on how to check WAEC 2026 results with your mobile phone, as many students prefer to have their exam results on their phone.

  • To begin, make sure your mobile phone has internet access.
  • Then, go to www.waecdirect.org and enter your 10-digit Exam number.
  • Fill in the Serial Number.
  • Enter your exam year, and then click on Check my WAEC result
How to Recover Your WAEC Photocard

Should you misplace your WAEC Photocard by any means and desperately need to use it in checking your WAEC GCE Please follow the steps below to reprint your WAEC photocard:

Step 1: Obtain an Affidavit for Loss of Examination Number from any magistrate court you are familiar with (Come with the treasury receipt)
Step 2: Go to the WAEC office that is closest to the center where you took your WAEC exam.
Step 3: Inform any officials that you would like to retrieve your WAEC Photocard.
Step 4: Submit the Affidavit from Step 1, as well as a passport photograph and your result checking fee (N950).
Step 5: Pay for the entire procedure and you will be given your WAEC Photocard back.

How much does it Cost to Retrieve a WAEC Photocard?

The West African Examination Council (WAEC) charges N2,000 for retrieving or reprinting a WAEC photocard (Two thousand Naira only). This is the processing fee, which must be paid before any candidate can retrieve or reprint his or her WAEC photocard.

Please keep in mind that if you do not receive your photocard right away, you will be asked to return another day. Nonetheless, keep in mind that if you followed all of the steps I outlined, you will undoubtedly receive your WAEC Photocard.
