Choosing An Immigration Representative

You may choose to utilize the service of a representative to act on your behalf or to assist you with finding a qualifying job offer, to complete your RNIP application for a recommendation or to complete your Permanent Resident application.

Notice that there are two types of representatives. They are, paid and unpaid. Only a few of these people can charge you a fee or receive any other type of payment. These people are called “authorized” representatives. They are:

  1. lawyers and paralegals who are members in good standing of a Canadian provincial or territorial law society
  2. notaries who are members in good standing of the Chambre des notaires du Québec and
  3. citizenship or immigration consultants who are members in good standing of the Immigration Consultants of Canada Regulatory Council

Representatives who charge a fee but are not authorized will not be given any attention. If you use an unauthorized representative, in Canada or abroad, your application may be rejected.

It is therefore important you understand that using a representative does not give preferential attention to your application review or whether it will be approved or rejected. All applications will be attended to the same way, regardless of whether a representative is used or not.

Immigration representatives cannot guarantee:

  • Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot approval
  • Permanent Residency approval
  • Bringing your extended family members to Canada, a special review of your application
  • A swift application review to the Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot or for Permanent Residency

I would advise that you started the process now from the first step to the finish. Best of the opportunity! What is your take about Turning Transferable Skills Into Career Success?
