The Ekiti State University popularly known as EKSU, was established in 1982 by the administration of late Chief Michael Adekunle Ajasin, the first civilian governor of Ondo State. It currently has two campuses, with a student population of about 25,000.
The University offers a wide range of programmes from the full-time certificate, diploma and degree programmes to part-time evening and weekend degree programmes, cutting across Ten (10) Faculties, namely: Faculty of Social Science, Management science, Basic Medical Sciences, Science, Clinical Sciences, Law, Engineering, Education, Arts, and Agriculture Science.

Ekiti State University Admission Requirements
To study at Ekiti State University, you must possess the following requirements:
- The candidate must be over 16 years of age in the year of admission (Some student swear an affidavit just to increase their ages)
- Candidates must possess a minimum of 5 credit passes in relevant subjects which must include English Language and mathematics at GCE O’Level, WASCE, SSCE, NECO or approved equivalents at not more than 2 sittings.
- Candidates with Teachers Grade II (TC II) with passes at credit or merit levels in conjunction with credit passes in relevant subjects at GCE, WASCE, SSCE, NECO or approved equivalents may be considered. No subject may be counted at both TC II and GCE O/Level, WASCE, SSCE, NECO or approved equivalents.
- The candidate must make at least 180 pass mark in JAMB to qualify for internal screening.
