NNPC/Total National Merit Scholarship For Nigerian Students- Apply!

We are happy to inform our students that the NNPC/Total national merit scholarship for Nigerian students is now open for the 2025 academic session. Scholarship benefits per student is worth N150,000 per academic year. Interested applicants should see full details below.

The Total Upstream Nigeria Limited (TUPNI), in pursuance of its corporate social responsibility, invites applications from suitably qualified Nigerians for the 2025/2026 national merit scholarship.

Annually, Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), and Total Upstream Companies in Nigeria (TUCN): Total Exploration & Production Nigeria Limited (Total E&P Nig Ltd) and Total Upstream Nigeria Limited (TUPNI), together with their venture partners, award scholarships to deserving Nigerian students in the tertiary institutions in the country.

  • Goal:

    To support Nigerian students and foster academic excellence and high-quality manpower in the country. 

  • Type:

    It’s a one-time financial support for undergraduate students, though TotalEnergies also offers a separate international Master’s scholarship. 

WHO IS IT FOR?
  • Eligibility: Full-time undergraduate students in accredited Nigerian universities. 
  • Level: Typically for 100 and 200-level students, but check the latest advert for specific year groups. 
  • Exclusion: Students who are already receiving similar scholarships from other industry players are usually not eligible. 
HOW TO APPLY:
  • Application Platform: Applications are typically done online. 
  • Selection Process: Applicants often undergo a competitive selection test held at designated centers nationwide. 
  • Required Documents: You’ll likely need documents like your SSCE/UTME scores, university admission letter, and Matriculation Number. 

Summary

This award, which is open to all first and second year full-time undergraduate students, irrespective of course of study, is aimed at assisting Nigerian students in financing their education.

The scheme provides an annual scholarship grant to successful candidates from the year of award to the completion of their undergraduate program.

Country Specific Scholarships And Funding- How To Apply!

NNPC/Total National Merit Scholarship

The programme is aimed at promoting academic excellence and quality manpower development in the country.

This is one of the many ways TOTAL demonstrates its commitment to the educational development of Nigerian students. It is a part of NNPC/TOTAL’s rich Corporate Social Responsibility.

Eligibility

  1. Applicants must be a Registered FULL TIME undergraduate in a recognised Nigerian University,
  2. Applicants must be a certified 100 or 200 level student at the time of application.
  3. Have scored at least 200 in the UTME
  4. For 200 level students: have a minimum CGPA of 2.5 in a 5.0 grade system
  5. Applicants must show proof of SSCE or Equivalent Certificate.
  6. Applicants must show proof of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME) score.
  7. Applicants must show full proof Admission Letter from the University and Matriculation Number.
  8. Applicants must show proof of A-Level or Equivalent Certificate (for direct entry students).

PLEASE NOTE:

  • Application is available online ONLY. Do not mail your application.
  • Shortlisted candidates ONLY will be invited to take the selection tests at designated centres nationwide.
  • Candidates shall bear the full cost of transportation to/from the selection test venue.
  • Candidates are therefore advised to choose test centres closest to them.
  • Students with less than 200 score in UTME need not apply.
  • Students with less than 2.50 CGPA of 5-point scale, or equivalent.
  • 300 Level students and above need not apply.
  • Current Beneficiaries need not apply.

The following categories of students need not apply:

  • Students who scored less than 200 in the UTME.
  • 200 level students with a CGPA of less than 2.5 in a 5.0 grade system
  • 300 level students or higher
    Students who are current beneficiaries of similar scholarships from an entity in the oil and gas industry.

How To Apply

1. Personal Information: Enter your name, date of birth and permanent home address. Upload your recent passport photograph.

2. Contact information: Enter your email and mobile phone information. Only use an active email and mobile phone number.

3. Origin: Enter your state and local government origin data. You are required to upload a certificate or proof of origin from your local government or state.

4. University information: Select your university, course and year of study. You will be required to upload your JAMB/University admission letter.

5. Result information: Input your JAMB score or CGPA. You are required to upload your JAMB statement of result and University CGPA. For year two medical students, your JAMB score suffice.

6. Review application: Review your application ensure all fields have been correctly entered. Upload all the documents required:

  • Recent Passport Photograph
  • Certificate or proof of Origin
  • Senior Secondary Certificate of Education (SSCE)
  • UTME Results
  • JAMB/University Admission Letter
  • 2nd Year result showing CGPA

7. Conclusion: Attest that all the info given is through. Accept terms and condition. On screen alert will confirm that you have successfully completed the application. You will receive an email to confirm it too.
