The University Of Uyo ? popularly known as UNIUYO was established in 1991. It currently has Four campuses, with a student population of about 20,000.
The Permanent Site/Main Campus of the university along Nwaniba Road, Uyo is about 4.5?km from the city centre and covers an area of about 1,443 hectares.
The university inherited students, staff, academic programmes and the entire facilities of the erstwhile University of Cross River State established by Cross River State in 1983. Academic activities commenced during the 1991/92 academic session.
UNIUYO has about 12?faculties, the postgraduate school and the School of Continuing Education. The various faculties are as follows: Faculty of Agriculture, Arts, Basic Medical Sciences, Business Administration, Clinical Sciences, Education, Engineering, Environmental Studies, Law, Science, Social Sciences, Pharmacy and School of Continuing Education.

University of Uyo Admission Requirements
To study at the University of Uyo, you must possess the following requirements:
- Candidates must possess a minimum of 5 credit passes in relevant subjects which must include English Language and mathematics at GCE O?Level, WASCE, SSCE, NECO or approved equivalents at not more than 2 sittings.
- Candidates with Teachers Grade II (TC II) with passes at credit or merit levels in conjunction with credit passes in relevant subjects at GCE, WASCE, SSCE, NECO or approved equivalents may be considered. No subject may be counted at both TC II and GCE O/Level, WASCE, SSCE, NECO or approved equivalents.
- The candidate must make at least 180 pass mark in JAMB to qualify for internal screening.
