In November 1971, the University of Ibadan’s satellite campus served as the foundation for what would eventually become the University of Jos. Pre-degree students were the first ones admitted in January 1972, and the first Bachelor of Arts degree program started in October 1973.

The UNIJOS was founded as a separate organization in October 1975 by the military regime that was in power at the time, led by General Murtala Mohammed. Professor Gilbert Onuaguluchi served as the Unijos’s first vice chancellor.

In October 1976, the University of Jos, which had recently undergone a reorganization, welcomed 575 students throughout its four colleges of arts and social sciences, education, natural sciences, and medical sciences. In 1977, postgraduate programs were added. The faculties of arts and sciences, law, and environmental sciences were all founded by 1978.

Although, the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) had set the cut-off marks or benchmark of 150 for Universities, 100 for Polytechnics and Colleges of Education.

In addition, to be eligible for admission into University of Jos, you must meet some certain admission requirements to be qualified for their screening exercise and be worthy to be offered provisional admission.

• Printed copy of your JAMB result.
• Original copy(s) of SSCE results (statements of result/certificate).
• Birth certificate/Age declaration.
• A letter/Certificate of good conduct from your village head or a responsible member of your community/or Civil servant not below Grade Level 10 or it equivalent.

UNIJOS Post-UTME/DE Online Screening  Exercise 2025

UNIJOS Post UTME Screening Date is sometime in August 2025. Check the time your departmental screening will hold and also the venue on www.unijos.edu.ng

You can apply for UNIJOS Post UTME at www.unijos.edu.ng/eportals. You will have to fill out the online registration form and upload your O’Level result on the portal as well.

The current deadline for UNIJOS Post-UTME registration has not been announced yet. Also, Check UNIJOS Resumption Date.

UNJOS Post UTME Eligibility

UTME Candidates:

Candidates who chose University of Jos as First Choice, and scored above 180 and met differential score for their desired Faculty/ Programme.

Direct Entry Candidates:

Applied for Direct Entry via JAMB and selected University of Jos as their choice.

Does UNIJOS conduct Post UTME exams?

Candidates who have been granted conditional admission on the JAMB Admission Status portal will have to come for screening at the University of Jos to process their admission completely.

You are expected to come with your;

• JAMB Result Printout,
• WAEC, NECO or NABTEB Result,
• JAMB Admission Letter,
• Colour Passport Photograph,
• UNIJOS Online Registration Printout,
• JAMB UTME Registration Number.

You can check UNIJOS screening timetable to know the venue and time for your departmental screening exercise to take place.

Please ensure you get to your Post UTME screening venue on time to avoid being disqualified. There may likely be a supplementary screening for candidates who missed the first.
