Entries for applications are being invited for the National Reasearch Foundation Scholarships for African students in South Africa. This scholarship is open and available for students looking at pursuing?Full-time Masters and Ph.D studies in 2019.

Scholarships are intended to support Masters and Doctoral candidates to pursue research studies in all areas of Science, Engineering, Technology, Social Sciences and Humanities, including Priority Research Areas at public universities.

National Reasearch Foundation Scholarships for African students

Before you apply, please read the eligibility requirements and other very important information in the sections appearing further below.

Eligible Countries:?

These scholarships are open to?South African citizens or permanent residents?as well as a limited percentage of foreign nationals who will register at a South African public university in 2019 on a?full-time basis?only.

Eligible Field Of Study:?

All course offered in the University, in the field of Sciences, Engineering, Technology, Social Sciences and Humanities.

Host Country:

South Africa

Scholarship Benefits:

Scholarship values are as follows:

Master?s degree : R50 000.00 to R90.000.00 p.a.
PhD degree : R70 000.00 to R130.000.00 p.a.

Are You Eligible For National Research Foundation Scholarships for African Students?

Please carefully read through the eligibility criteria before applying.

  • Scholarships are open to South African citizens, South African permanent residents as well as a limited percentage of foreign nationals who will register at a South African public university in 2019 on a full-time basis.
  • NRF Masters scholarship-holders who wish to register for Doctoral degrees in 2019 must apply for funding
  • Scholarships are intended to support Masters and Doctoral candidates to pursue research studies in all areas of Science, Engineering, Technology, Social Sciences and Humanities, including Priority Research Areas at public universities.

Additional research funds and travel grants to 2 conferences are awarded to awardees on this scholarship (visit Scholarship Webpage for details)

How Can You Apply?

Applicants must apply on the NRF Online system at:?https://nrfsubmission.nrf.ac.za?and follow the application process set out in the attached framework document and funding guide. The application deadline is?15 June 2018 for funding in 2019.

It is important to go through the Application process in the Scholarship Webpage before applying.
