To study Accounting, you must acquire atleast Five SSCE Credit Passes in English Language, Mathematics, Economics and any other two relevant subjects.
There are however, variation to these requirements in some Nigerian higher institutions. In the case of some schools highlighted for you below:
- UNIPORT does not accept commercial subjects except Financial Accounting or Business.
- UNIUYO requires Credit in Economics.
- UNILAG requires Five ‘O’ Level Credits to include English Langauge, Mathematics, Economics and any other Science, Social Science or Arts Subjects.
- UNN accepts Five ‘O’ Level Credit Passes to include English Language, Mathematics, Economics and any other two relevant Subjects.
- UNIJOS in addition to UTME requirements requires two Credit Passes in any of Business Studies, Commerce, Government, Principle of Accounting, Geography and Biology.

Hi Ayomide, when you have certain school selected, find their cut off mark for that Course you choose. So work hard from there to hit more than that score. Like if the school requires 200, you should target 250 JAMB score. Also, be sure to register correct subject combination for your course.

I think Geography would be okay if you have it. Though you can still use COMMERCE.
If you hit above 220 Score in JAMB and scale through UNILAG’s Post UTME Cut off Mark, I am sure you would be admitted to the Accounting Department in UNILAG.
