Below are the important JAMB admission guidelines 2026/2027 you should be conversant with as you prepare for JAMB UTME. The new admission process is for UTME & DE students.

It is important that Heads of Institutions along with key players in the admission process carefully read through these JAMB guidelines, discuss and fully understand in order to avoid unnecessary problems and unwarranted visit to JAMB office.

Mode Of 2026/2027 JAMB Admission Guidelines

The Admission-Exercise for the 2026/2027 Academic Session would be conducted on Central Admission Processing System (CAPS) of JAMB.

No Institution is allowed to publish, announce, exhibit or paste any name(s) of admitted candidate(s) without prior approval of the name(s) on CAPS.

PLEASE NOTE: After you “Accept” the admission, your admission quest is over as you will no longer be available for other schools’ admission consideration. On the other hand, when you “Reject” the admission, you become available for other schools to consider you with free admission slots.

How To ACCEPT Or REJECT Admission On JAMB CAPS Using PC

Upload the JAMB E-facility portal at https://portal.jamb.gov.ng/efacility/.
Insert your Email Address and Password in the required columns then log in.
Click on Check Admission Status.
Select your examination year, supply your JAMB registration number in the required column, and click on the ‘Access my CAPS’ button.
Select ‘Admission Status‘ on the left panel.
Select the ‘Search’ button in front of your JAMB Registration Number to load your profile.
Choose ACCEPT OR REJECT your admission offer under ‘Admission Profile’.

Note: If you have been offered admission, the Accept Admission and Reject Admission buttons will be active (clickable).

If you have NOT been offered admission yet, the Accepted Admission and Reject Admission buttons will be inactive (not clickable and greyed out).

How to ACCEPT or REJECT Admission on JAMB CAPS Using Mobile Device

You may not see the option to check your Admission Status on CAPS when you use a phone. Most phone users may only see the welcome message.

The caps page shows only welcome because it requires you to use desktop mode to view the complete page. This is why it is recommended you use the chrome browser when using a phone.

Go to the Chrome option and choose request desktop site for the complete page to display as explained below:

Upload the JAMB E-facility portal at https://portal.jamb.gov.ng/efacility/
OR visit https://caps.jamb.gov.ng/default.aspx?TokenID=P
Enter your Email Address and Password in the required columns then log in.
Click on ‘Check Admission Status.
Choose your examination year, select your JAMB registration number in the required column, and click on the ‘Access my CAPS’ button.
A “Welcome” message will be sent.
Select the three-dotted line at the top right corner of your browser ( i.e.) and then tick ‘Desktop site‘. (you can click on the image for a better view)
Choose ‘Admission Status‘ on the left panel.
Find and click on the ‘Search’ button in front of your JAMB Registration Number to load your profile.
You can now accept/reject your admission offer under ‘Admission Profile’.

NOTICE: Acceptance/Rejection of admission offer is free!

Candidates who have been offered admission on JAMB CAPS are to equally print their admission letter after accepting the admission. Because, they will be requested to submit this during clearance and registration in the school where they have been admitted.

The JAMB admission letter is required for school admission and NYSC mobilization.

You would be unable to complete your first clearance without the letter. Many schools, however, grant waivers to students who do not have admission letters.

It costs one thousand naira (N1,000) to print your JAMB admission letter online using your phone.

How to Print JAMB Admission Letter Step by Step

Launch your web browser.
Start your phone’s or computer’s browser.
Enter https://jamb.gov.ng/Efacility in your internet browser to access the JAMB e-facility Portal. The JAMB e-facility
Access your JAMB account.
Enter your JAMB email and password. Login to your JAMB profile
Choose your JAMB examination year.
Select your examination year from the drop-down menu.
Select Print Admission Letter.
To print your admission letter, click the red bar. Examine your admission status
Choose an examination year.

How are JAMB scores calculated?

When your status changes to “admission in progress” with or without “check back later,” it means your school has forwarded a new list to JAMB, who is also working on uploading it. All you have to do now is return and monitor the progress.

Can I accept admission without having JAMB caps?
Outside of the JAMB CAPS, you can accept any of the following admissions. Admission to Pre-degree, Remedial, Pre-ND, and Pre-NCE programs does not require JAMB CAPS. Candidates will, however, need JAMB and CAPS for admission into the 100 levels. Advance Admissions to JUPEB, IJMB, Cambridge, and NABTEB do not require JAMB CAPS.

What is the difference between JAMB and school admission?
As you can see, there is no distinction between JAMB and school admission. However, a candidate must be offered admission by both JAMB and the school in order to print an admission letter, pay the acceptance fee, and register as a legitimate student at any school.

Is the JAMB cap necessary?
Some institutions may not post the list of candidates admitted to their various programs on their website or bulletin board. As a result, admission seekers are advised to check JAMB CAPS on a regular basis to keep track of their admission status.

What happens after accepting admission on caps?
After paying the acceptance fee, being cleared, and paying tuition, you are a legitimate student at your school. The next step is to enrol as a new student. As a student, you will have your own portal. You continue your studentship activities through this portal until you graduate.
