Concordia University Montreal is a publicly established university located in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The University was established in 1974 following the merger of Sir George Williams and Loyola College. The University is among the three institutions in Quebec where English is the major language of instruction. Concordia offers above 300 undergraduate and 100 graduate courses over four faculties, colleges, institutes and a school of graduate studies. Throughout the 2023/2024 academic session, there were 37,053 undergraduate and 9,040 graduate students matriculated in the university. Its admission procedure is based on students’ past academic history and grades.

The university is also part of the International Association of Universities (IAU), the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada (AUCC), and the Alliance of Commonwealth Universities (ACU). The school is home to a different set of people and races from across the globe. There are over 2000 international students presently enrolled in the university at the time of compiling this post.

Montreal is the metropolis where the Concordia college is located. It is the most crowded city in the Canadian province of Quebec. The city was first called the City of Mary by European settlers. The most speaking language of the people in Montreal city is French. Though most of the people living in Montreal speaks English and French and this is why the city is called a bilingual city. The city is a centre of aerospace, commerce, transport etc. during the year 2006, the Montreal city was named the UNESCO city of design and in 2017, it was ranked the 12th most habitable city in the world. The city is the only Canadian city to have held the Summer Olympics. After Paris, Montreal is the second-largest French-speaking city in the globe.

Concordia University Montreal Ranking

The University is ranked among the top higher educational institutions in Canada. The 2019 Maclean’s Guide to Canadian Universities rated Concordia 10th among outstanding universities in Canada. On the international stage, Concordia is positioned 464th in the 2019 QS World University Rankings.

Concordia University Montreal has also stepped up to a considerable level of reputations in the field of humanities and social sciences. Higher Education Strategy Associates’ rankings of Universities in Canada in 2012 ranked Concordia 9th nationally in humanities and social sciences.

Concordia University Montreal Scholarships

Concordia has a variety of scholarship programs available for both indigenes and international students to facilitate their studies in their respective studies. There are scholarships, Awards, Bursaries, government Aids, work-study programs, jobs on campus to help students in their various academic programs. The institution also has a different international student centre to help them with their studies.

At Concordia University, undergraduate scholarships, awards and bursaries are monitored and administered by the Undergraduate Scholarship and Awards board, as mandated by the Deputy Provost of the university. The Undergraduate Scholarship and Awards board or committee include Chairperson, one member from Student and Enrolment Services, one member of the Concordia Council on Student Life, four faculty members, one Concordia Student Union member, as well as a staff member from the Financial Aid and Awards Office.

Concordia University Montreal Admission Requirements For International Students

Below are the admission eligibility according to programs for international students at the Concordia University Montreal.

Bachelor Of Education

This program is for students who want to teach in elementary and secondary schools.

Requirements/Eligibility

To be eligible, you must meet up with

  • 120 credits of core & elective courses
  • four day-time internships in three different semesters.
  • Be a professional speaker of English with at least a working knowledge of French.

Bachelor Of Computer Science:

This degree prepares students to become computer professionals

Requirements/Eligibility

  • You must be efficient at computer science, mathematics and a few electives.
  • You must have a very high academic standing.
  • Your application form must be submitted to the Honours program.
  • You must have a regular 90 credit degree program requirements.

Bachelor Of Engineering:

This prepares you for the engineering profession.

Requirements/Eligibility

  • You must take the mandatory courses at the beginning of the program. This helps you to
  • familiarize yourself with the analysis and design aspects of your chosen field of study.
  • Focus on your particular electives.
  • Have the regular (120 credit) degree program requirements.

Bachelor of Fine Arts:

This offers degree programs in both the Performing and the Visual Arts.

Requirements/Eligibility

  • You must have the lowest of 66 credits in a discipline or field.
  • For the major courses, you must have a sequence of courses totalling 48 or more credits and for the minor, you must have a sequence of courses totalling 24 or more credits
  • You must complete the lowest of six credits from course offerings outside the Fine Arts academic sectors.

Bachelor of administration:

This provides students with a piece of fundamental knowledge in administration.

Requirements/Eligibility

  • You must complete a set of 14 required mandatory courses.
  • You must finish up with 90-credit program requirements.

Bachelor Of Commerce:

This provides you with an education for various careers in business.

Requirements/Eligibility

  • You must finish up an optional 12 credit Business minor in addition to your major.
  • You must finish up a common set of 14 required core courses.

Bachelor of science

Requirements/Eligibility

  • You must have a lowest of 90 credits requirements

Bachelor Of Arts

Requirements/Eligibility

  • You must have a lowest of 90 credits
  • You must have 30 additional credits.
