Albeit, in this era of information technology, some higher institution have suddenly realized the need to extend higher education such as degrees and diplomas to those who will need it from anywhere in the world.
Distance learning centres are good alternatives to conventional university programmes. You receive your lectures from home or office and you acquire the same degree as regular students get at the end of your programme.
However, not all universities have distance learning program accredited by the National university commission (NUC).

1. University Of Ibadan
The University of Ibadan, as we all know is the best in the country. The university is known to have the best functional Distance learning facilities in Nigeria. To get admission or entry into 100L, you would only need 5 O?level credits at one sitting or 6 at two sittings.

Obafemi Awolowo University popularly known as OAU is another very well recognised institution that offers distance learning courses in Nigeria. It offers courses in Diplomas, Degree, postgraduate degrees and as well as PGD in all programmes. 3. University of Lagos, Akoka
The University of Lagos is also among the few DLC we are having here in Nigeria. The university is known to be quite strict with it admission requirements. To secure admission into her DLC programmes, you must have reached the age of 21 years and no awaiting results are accepted.

4. Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria
Ahmadu Bello University offers distance learning courses in MBA programmes. Among which are Business Administration, Public Administration, Political science, Sociology etc.
It has also recently launched 7 diploma programs which it will run on its e-learning platform. The fees are quite heavy, but some form of financial aids are available for interested applicants.
5. University of Maiduguri
UNIMAID distance learning centre prides itself on complementing conventional Universities in providing accessible, affordable and qualitative education. It was set up in 2004.

6. University of Nigeria, Nsukka
The University of Nigeria Nsukka Launches its Online MBA Program in 2017. The courses they offer include Management, Accounting, Marketing and Banking & Finance.
Duration for each Programme is 18 months, which consists of two (2) sessions and four (4) semesters. They also have flexible payments plans for interested applicants.
It, however, require candidates to hold a Bachelor?s Degree in any course, not necessarily in business or any arts-related course.
7. National Open University of Nigeria
NOUN is the largest distance learning institution in Nigeria. This university is the perfect example of what distance learning is all about.
