The Umaru Musa Yar’adua University – popularly known as UMYU, was established in 2006. The university (formerly Katsina State University) was established by the Katsina State Government out of the desire to improve access to higher education for its citizenry.

The Higher institution was later named after the late President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Umaru Musa Yar’adua before his demise.

Currently, the University can boast of a total of 5 faculties, 36 departments and 136 academic programmes (undergraduate and postgraduate). It has a student population of 19,856 and the current serving Vice-Chancellor is professor Idris Isah Funtua.

Umaru Musa Yar’adua University Admission Requirements

To study at Umaru Musa Yar’adua University, you must possess the following requirements:

  • The candidate must be over 16 years of age in the year of admission (Some student swear an affidavit just to increase their ages)
  • Candidates must possess a minimum of 5 credit passes in relevant subjects which must include English Language and mathematics at GCE O’Level, WASCE, SSCE, NECO or approved equivalents at not more than 2 sittings.
  • Candidates with Teachers Grade II (TC II) with passes at credit or merit levels in conjunction with credit passes in relevant subjects at GCE, WASCE, SSCE, NECO or approved equivalents may be considered. No subject may be counted at both TC II and GCE O/Level, WASCE, SSCE, NECO or approved equivalents.
  • The candidate must make at least 180 pass mark in JAMB to qualify for internal screening.

Umaru Musa Yar’adua University Admission Screening System

Screening Registration Instructions:

Through here, you can make payment and fill the application form. You can edit your application details, view your application profile and check your screening status.

Therefore to register you must:

  • Click on ‘Register a new Account‘ at the right to fill the registration form.
    NOTE: Registration is to be done once. If you have registered before just login to continue filling your form.
  • On successful payment, log on to your profile and edit your application profile (This will require your recent passport photograph and your biodata).
  • Print your Screening Acknowledgement Details.

  • Login to pay for acceptance fee.
  • Login to print your Admission Letter and other forms

All candidates must satisfy the UTME requirements. Five credit passes at SSCE, HIS or SIS in English Language, Mathematics, Islamic Studies and any other two Arts or Social Science subjects in not more than two sittings. English Language, Islamic Religious Knowledge and two other Arts or Social Science subjects.
