How To Set A Great Impression To Resume A New Job

Posted on July 14, 2026 By CampusTimesNG No Comments on How To Set A Great Impression To Resume A New Job

Now that you have got your dream job, to resume a new job involves setting a great impression as you resume your first day at work.

As a job-seeker, your first impressions were really valuable. You set a real goal when you learned how to build a resume. You struck another great jinx at the interview stages. Therefore, now that you’ve won the dream job jackpot, the first impressions as you resume your first day at work are again of strategic importance.

Here are strategic suggestions for what you can put to practice habitually, that will help you set a great impression in starting a new job.

What You Must Do To Successfully Resume A New Job

1. Arrive Early, Leave Late, and Don’t Call in Sick

Your first target should be to resume to your new job on time, perhaps even earlier. Then, stay a little late. Put in mind that, you can’t be a go-getter and a clock-watcher at both times, so prepare to initially stay longer at work a little than your typical eight-hour workday.

Ensure that your lunches do not take much of your time, especially during your first few days at work. By the time you have better understood the office culture, you may be able to shift your hours or take longer lunches but not to err at the beginning so you can make a great first impression.

These steps will help you set a good attendance record. However, emergencies will sometimes come up, and you may get sick, but as best as you can, do your best to get to the office every day during those first weeks and months on a new job.

2. Dress Professionally

The way you are dressed speaks volumes. So never underestimate the importance of dressing appropriately when you want to set a great impression to resume a new job.

There are three main accepted clothing options today, namely; business professional attire, business casual attire, and casual attire. A business professional simply means that you wear a business suit and tie to work. You will find this type of formal dressing in more traditional industries, like those of the banking and financial services.

Step away from your desk if you need to make a personal call. Where you need to take care of some personal business online, do it quickly and discreetly, and possibly from your smartphone.

10. Drink Water, Eat Natural/healthy foods and Relax

Every professional is a corporate athlete. The willpower, endurance, and ability to learn are all impacted by your hydration, nutrition, and time for rest. Though this advice may not be immediately relevant to your work performance, the actual habit to keep is to treat your body as a performance engine as you feed it well and give it time to relax and recharge.

You must have mastered the best way to set a good impression to resume a new job. It is important you practice these tips so you can set a good record fast in your new job. I wish you the best of growth throughout your career.
