Canadian Mennonite University is a Christian university located in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The higher institution was founded in 1999?by the merger of three different institutions: Canadian Mennonite Bible College, Concord College and?Menno Simons College.

The institution currently offers academic programs in the arts, sciences, music and business administration to both Canadians citizens and international students. As well as graduate degrees in theology, ministry,? peacebuilding, collaborative development, and an MBA.

Canadian Mennonite University Map, Location And Population

CMU is nestled in the city of Winnipeg, the capital and biggest city of the province of Manitoba in Canada. The city is named after the nearby Lake Winnipeg. Before the advent of the Europeans, the city was a trading hub for aboriginal peoples. In 1738, the French merchants built the first fort. As of 2011, Winnipeg is the seventh highly populated municipality in Canada.

The city “Winnipeg” is a railway and transportation centre with a diversified economy. In 1816, The M?tis and Lord Selkirk’s settlers fought at the Battle of Seven Oaks. Before 1972, Winnipeg was the biggest of thirteen cities and towns in a metropolitan area between the Red and Assiniboine Rivers. Winnipeg experienced a severe economic meltdown in advance of the early 1980s recession, during which the city experienced closures of big businesses. The Winnipeg city was almost submerged by the 1997 Red River flood as well as other floods in 2009 and 2011 in each of these floods, the Red River Floodway was used to keep the city safe.

Canadian Mennonite University library is well equipped with up to date books, materials, audios, tapes, and various collections. Canadian Mennonite University’s archives and collection totals over 120,000 items. The Canadian Mennonite University Library is situated in the new Marpeck Commons, on the north side of CMU’s Grant & Shaftesbury campus. The Library facilities are opened and can be accessed by both students and the general public.

Students who work about Five (5) hours per week can earn about $1500.00 per session or $750.00 per semester. All students are qualified to apply for any campus job. Canadian Mennonite University Scholarships?

The following awards and scholarships are available to most new students as well as international students in one academic program or the other. Old Returning students (both domestic and international) also have access to some CMU’s scholarships. The different scholarships available at CMU include the following:

  • Academic Scholarships (for new, returning, and transfer students)
  • Outtatown Leadership Scholarship
  • Music Merit Award (for new students)
  • Leadership Scholarships (for new students)
  • Academic Merit Award (for new students)

Academic Scholarship

The Canadian Mennonite University Academic Scholarship is awarded to fresh, returning and transfer students who are on a full-time program, on the basis of academic accomplishment or achievement in high school. Only Canadian or United State’s citizens can enjoy this scholarship. The scholarship worth $1000-$3000.

In place of the Academic Excellence Scholarship, prize money of $2000 may be awarded to the student with the highest GPA in the first year of the following programs: Biblical & Theological Studies Major, Music major, Humanities Major, Social Sciences or Sciences Major).

Eligibility

To enjoy this scholarship, you must

  • Be registered for less than twelve credit hours semester
  • you must be a fresh, returning and transfer student

Leadership Scholarship

This scholarship is offered to students who demonstrate outstanding leadership qualities, academic achievements, and personal character. The scholarship is valued $14,000; $3,500 per year. All applicants for the Leadership Scholarship who do not merit the scholarship may also be considered for one of the four Leadership Merit Awards valued $1,000 each for one academic session.

Eligibility

To enjoy this scholarship, you must

  • Be concluding a high school diploma or has no more than nine (9) credit hours of post-secondary education.
  • Plan to apply in full-time studies at CMU
  • candidate must have a CMU Entrance Average of no less than 80%.
  • Current and/or recent past leadership engagements
  • Enrolled in a minimum of 12 credit hours per term at CMU.

Outtatown Scholarship

The Outtatown scholarship is for high school graduates from ages seventeen (17) to Twenty-Two (22). This scholarship is open to students who demonstrate outstanding leadership qualities, vision, academic excellence, personal character, and service. The scholarship is worth $1000.

Eligibility

To qualify, you must,

  • Be able to describe the most meaningful leadership involvements and achievements
  • Should be able to reflect on qualities of leadership that they want to develop while on this scholarship and beyond.

Academic merit scholarship

This scholarship recognizes CMU students who display interest and passion in the commitments that are described in CMU’s vision and mission. These include: educating for peace-justice; Learning through thinking; and carrying out generous hospitality through an invitational community and dialogue. This Academic merit scholarship has a maximum value of $4,000; $1,000 per year up to four years.

Eligibility

To be qualified, you must

  • Submit an award application form
  • Write a 500-word essay answering one of three questions highlighted on the Application Form.
  • Have a nomination letter

Music Merit Scholarship

Every year Canadian Mennonite University recognizes students talents in music by awarding three Music Merit Awards (maximum value $6,000; $1,500 per session for the period of four years).?It is mandatory that first-year students enjoying the Music award must be a CMU School of Music student. These Music merit scholarship awards are renewable for three additional years. The Scholarship is valued $6,000; $1,500 per year up to four years.

Eligibility

To qualify, you must

  • have a letter of nomination from a music teacher or instructor and complete an audition.
  • Be a student of the Canadian Mennonite University school of? music.

Application Deadline

The deadline for submission of application for the Canadian Mennonite University Scholarship is February 28.

Canadian Mennonite University Admission Requirements

The requirements for admission of International students at the Canadian Mennonite University is as below:

Eligibility

To qualify, all international students must

  • Fulfil the?Canadian Mennonite University (CMU) admission entrance requirements
  • you must have successfully finished an internationally examined curriculum.
  • You must have successfully completed atleast one year of full-time studies.
  • You must have finished from a high school in Canada or the USA.
  • If your primary language is not English, you must demonstrate proficiency through a recognized English language exam. Like IELTS or TOEFL
  • International students?whose primary language is not English must also show proficiency in English by?one?of the following tests: International English Language Testing System (IELTS),?Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), CanTest,?Cambridge English Assessment Scale, Test of English, Michigan English Language Assessment Battery,?Canadian Academic English Language Assessment.

How To Apply for Canadian Mennonite University?

To apply as a foreign student, you must:

  • Take note of the application deadline dates. The application deadline for the fall semester is May 15 and the application deadline for the winter semester is August 15.
  • If you are aware of the deadline for application, then you need to fill the application form which could be direct online or by printing out a PDF application form and mailing it to the institution.
  • Pay a non-refundable fee of 150 dollars which should be attached with your application form.
  • You must include your official transcript
  • Include Your English Proficiency examination Result
  • In Three (3) – Four (4) weeks, be ready to receive your admission notification.
  • If you intend to stay on Campus, then you may apply for On-campus housing. This could be done by filling out the housing part of your Online CMU application then use the online housing application form to print out a PDF form and mail it to the institution.
  • Use your acceptance letter to apply for a Canada study permit.

Note: a final letter of acceptance will be issued to you by the higher institution once you have finished your current educational program and provide the final official transcripts. This acceptance letter will enable or allow you enter Canada and continue studies at the Canadian Mennonite University.
