Ad Astra Academic Scholarship Benefit
Ad Astra scholars at many times benefit from a scholarship, mentoring and a range of organized supports. The value of the scholarship for new scholars who will be entering the program in September 2019 is ?3,000, which can be utilized to offset the cost of accommodation, fees, or used as a bursary.
If you are interested in living on campus, Ad Astra scholars can avail you allocation for on-campus accommodation and you will be able to obtain scholarship allowance which is applied in part payment. In addition to this, scholars will be receiving a range of academic privileges which include:
- The support of a committed academic mentor
- A program of workshops and academic seminars, guest speakers and distinguished alumni throughout the year so as to improve the scholars? academic and personal potential.
- Development opportunities and networking.
- The scholarship will be tenable for 4 years or for the duration of the program, whichever one is the lesser, based on qualifying for the criteria for scholarship renewal each year.
Who Is Eligible?
UCD Ad Astra Academy Academic Scholarship will be eligible for prospective students such as School Leavers.
Ad Astra Academic Scholarships for September 2016 onwards were awarded on the basis of the academic criteria of 6 H1?s in the initial sitting of the Leaving Cert (or A-Level equivalent), including an online application.
The application will consist of a personal statement with a statement of achievement ?beyond the classroom?. However, ?beyond the classroom? achievement could include:
- Achievement in a national competition such as Debating, Young Scientist, or Maths Olympiad
- Proof of active citizenship or volunteering for instance through a Silver or Gold Gaisce Award
- Evidence of your engagement in entrepreneurship or innovation
- Evidence that you have had an opportunity to hold a position of leadership in a school, club or sporting context
- The achievement you have made in musical, artistic or cultural, pursuits
Applicants are invited, as the scholarship recognizes eligible nationality/ citizens of all nationalities to apply.
