How To Calculate MOUAU Screening Score

Posted on June 12, 2026 By CampusTimesNG 2 Comments on How To Calculate MOUAU Screening Score

Nigerian Universities and Polytechnics, has developed a system of calculating the candidate’s average score after their Post-UTME exercise. This article will give you detail on How To Calculate MOUAU Screening Score

Academic institutions like MOUAU (Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike) has been doing this for years since they are using this method as a basis for admission selection.

This method will calculate your JAMB score and the UTME Screening score. In contrast, the formula to check your chances in getting admission in any Nigeria Universities, Polytechnics, and College of Education is very extremely simple;

  1. Firstly, you will divide your JAMB score by 8.
  2. Secondly, you will then divide the Post-UTME score by 2.
  3. Sum the two results together.

See example on how to calculate:

Bola scored 240 in JAMB and 60 in post-UTME, therefore this How to calculate MOUAU screening score.

Your jamb

240/8 = 30

Your post UTME

60/2 = 30

Therefore, you will add the two together

Your jamb score + your post -UTME

(30 + 30 = 60)

Which means Bola Total score will now be 60%

Here is the Pass Benchmark:

You may be wondering How to calculate MOUAU screening score. and know your admission status.

However, as stated before, MOUAU has set a pass benchmark of 40 across all courses, including arts, sciences

Nevertheless, because there is competition in the admission, this usually rises in response to the level of competition of candidates looking for admission.

Your Chance of Getting Admitted to MOUAU

After you must have finished calculating your score, if it is below 40 marks, then you are most unlikely going to secure admission this year.

However, if your score is above 40 marks, then there is an assurance that you will get admission, you can start preparing to go to your desired institution.

Nevertheless, what we should not overlook here is that admission competition can change if the competition to be admitting students is much more than that of last year.

Please note that the competition has ruined many prospective candidates.

Those competitions always come from these courses as mentioned below.

  1. Computer Engineering,
  2. EE Engineering,
  3. Mechanical Engineering,
  4. Computer Science,
  5. Biochemistry,
  6. Microbiology,
  7. Accounting,
  8. Among others.

Are you muddled about this?

Let me explain what I meant by mentioning the above courses to you.

What am trying to point at, is that there has always an enormous number of candidates who apply for the above-mentioned courses, there is a vast population contending for the relatively few admission spaces available within these courses.

SEE ALSO:JAMB 2024 LIST OF NIGERIA UNIVERSITY THAT ACCEPTS 180.

Here is an example of what I’m trying to explain

A candidate desiring for admission with an average score of about 50 may not be admitted if he/she applies to a very ruthless course, while another candidate who probably scored 44 may be admitted on the merit lists, because this candidate applied to a less competitive course as mentioned below.

  1. Plant Health Management,
  2. Agronomy,
  3. Animal Production,
  4. Likewise, this applies to any Science Education courses.

So the lower the number of candidates seeking admission into a particular course, the lower the consideration will be.

Thank you.
